Special Press Briefing by Assistant Secretary for European and Eurasian Affairs Beth JonesAssistant Secretary for European and Eurasian Affairs Beth Jones will provide an ON THE RECORD, off-camera press briefing on U.S. relations with the countries of Central Asia (Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan), including a readout of her recent travel to the region. Following her opening remarks, Assistant Secretary Jones will respond to questions from the press.
The briefing will take place on Monday, February 11, 2002, at 10:00 a.m. in the State Department Press Briefing Room (room 2209).
Members of the press should arrive at the 23rd Street entrance of the State Department and allow adequate time to process through security. Media representatives may cover this event upon presentation of either (1) a U.S. government-issued identification card (Department of State, White House, Congress, Department of Defense, or Foreign Press Center), (2) a photo ID issued by the employing media organization, or (3) a letter on official letterhead from their news organization verifying their employment as a journalists, accompanied by an official photo ID (driver’s license or passport).
