Secretary of State Colin L. Powell will officially open a photo exhibition "After September 11: Images from Ground Zero" on Wednesday, February 27, 2002, at 4:00 p.m. in the Benjamin Franklin Room of the U.S. Department of State, 2201 C Street NW, Washington, D.C. Secretary Powell will make brief remarks, and the event is open to the press.

Prior to the official opening, Assistant Secretary of State for Educational and Cultural Affairs Patricia Harrison and photographer Joel Meyerowitz will hold a press preview of the photo exhibition at 3:00 p.m. in the Benjamin Franklin Room. The preview will also be open to the press, on the record and on camera.

The exhibition features 28 color photographs from a collection of more than 5,000 images taken by Joel Meyerowitz, who is the only photographer with unlimited access to "Ground Zero" in New York City. More than 60 foreign capitals will host the exhibit this year.
