Murder of Police Officer in Andoain, Spain

The United States strongly condemns the cowardly murder on February 9 of Joseba Pagazaurtundua, chief of police in the town of Andoain. Spanish authorities believe that the ETA terrorist group was responsible for this killing. We deplore ETA's long-running, senseless campaign to terrorize and kill innocent people, and we continue to support Spain in its vigorous efforts to combat terrorism and bring the perpetrators of this attack to justice.
