Secretary of State Colin L. Powell to Participate in a BET Town Hall Meeting With African-American YouthSecretary of State Colin L. Powell will participate in a town hall meeting sponsored by Black Entertainment Television (BET). Secretary Powell will field questions on a broad range of issues from approximately 120 Washington, D.C. area high school students. The event will be taped on Wednesday, February 19, 2002 from 7:30 p.m.-8:30 p.m. at BET’s Studio II, 1235 W St., N.E., Washington, DC. BET will broadcast the event on Thursday, February 20 at 8:00 p.m. Press are welcome to observe the taping of the event, but may not participate.
This event is open to print journalists and still cameras; no flash photography will be allowed. Video cameras are not permitted. Access time for ALL press: 6:30 p.m. Press must confirm attendance by Wednesday, February 19 at 3:00 p.m.
Media representatives may cover this event upon presentation of either (1) a US Government-issued identification card (Department of State, White House, Congress, Department of Defense, or Foreign Press Center), (2) a photo ID issued by the employing media organization, or (3) a letter on official letterhead from their news organization verifying their employment as a journalist, accompanied by an official photo ID (driver’s license or passport).
