Assistant Secretary for Educational and Cultural Affairs Patricia S. Harrison and Senator Chuck Hagel to Address National Council for International Visitors' Meeting

Assistant Secretary for Educational and Cultural Affairs Patricia S. Harrison will address the National Council for International Visitors’ National Meeting in Washington, D.C., on Thursday, March 13 at 9:25 a.m. The address is open for press coverage.

Senator Chuck Hagel will also address the meeting on Thursday, March 13, at 1:15 p.m., and is open for press coverage.

The meeting, with the theme "International Understanding Through Citizen Diplomacy: Community Leadership and Foreign Policy," is taking place March 12-15 at the Washington Marriott Hotel (1221 22nd Street NW).

Other featured speakers include James F. Hoge, editor for Foreign Affairs, on Friday, March 14 at 12:30 p.m.

The National Council for International Visitors is a nonprofit professional association of 96 community organizations and program agencies throughout the United States that promotes citizen diplomacy in partnership with the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs.

The State Department’s International Visitor Program has brought more than 120,000 visitors to the United States over the past 62 years to meet with their professional counterparts and gain a first-hand understanding of American society.
