Burundi: Condemnation of Rebel Attacks on Burundian Cities The United States condemns the shelling of civilian areas in Bujumbura and elsewhere by elements of the National Council for the Defense of Democracy-Forces for the Defense of Democracy that took place throughout the day on Thursday, April 17. There can be no justification for this act of violence that has resulted in the injury and death of innocent civilians.
The United States again calls on the National Council for the Defense of Democracy-Forces for the Defense of Democracy to move ahead with implementation of the cease-fire signed on the morning of December 3, 2002, without preconditions and without delay.
