| Notice to the Press Office of the Spokesman Washington, DC April 21, 2003 State Department Dinner for Grapes for HumanityLincoln P. Bloomfield, Jr., Special Representative of the President and Secretary of State for Mine Action, will co-host with the non-governmental organization Grapes for Humanity a reception and dinner on Wednesday, April 23, 2003 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., in the Benjamin Franklin Room at the U.S. Department of State, to honor Grapes for Humanity. Grapes for Humanity is a Canadian non-governmental organization which supports projects to benefit landmine survivors and other victims of war. This event will mark Grapes for Humanity's opening of a branch in the United States.
Special Representative Bloomfield, who also serves as Assistant Secretary of State for Political-Military Affairs, will deliver opening remarks. Other speakers include Arlene Willis, President and Chief Executive Officer of Grapes for Humanity that is co-hosting the dinner, Tony Aspler, co-founder of Grapes for Humanity, Bobby Muller, President of the Vietnam Veterans of America Foundation, and Michael Lundquist, Executive Director of the Polus Center for Social and Economic Development.
Press are invited to cover opening remarks by Special Representative Bloomfield and Arlene Willis between 7:00 p.m. and 7:20 p.m.
Pre-set time for cameras is 5:30 p.m. from the C Street Entrance. Media representatives may cover this event upon presentation of one of the following: (1) a U.S. Government-issued identification card (Department of State, White House, Congress, Department of Defense, or Foreign Press Center); (2) a photo ID issued by the employing media organization; or (3) a letter on official letterhead from their news organization verifying their employment as journalists, accompanied by an official photo ID (driver's license or passport).
