| Taken Questions Office of the Spokesman Washington, DC April 24, 2003 Question Taken at April 23, 2003 Daily Press Briefing North American Free Trade AgreementQuestion: Do you have information regarding the NAFTA meeting scheduled in June that was proposed by Mexican President Fox?
Answer: The U.S.-Mexico Partnership for Prosperity will host a conference in San Francisco June 9-10 to highlight the role of the private sector in fostering economic development in Mexico. The Partnership is a bilateral presidential initiative launched by Presidents Fox and Bush. While there is no specific NAFTA meeting set for June, meetings are held regularly with all our NAFTA partners. Just recently, a NAFTA Deputies meeting was held in Tucson, Arizona on March 19.
The United States continues to work with Mexico and Canada to strengthen our relations and improve trade, and now that NAFTA is in its tenth year, we will continue to seek to improve trade to benefit all three nations. |
