Secretary of State Colin L. Powell to Address Council of the AmericasSecretary of State Colin L. Powell will address the Council of the Americas on the topic of „U.S.-Hemispheric Relations“ on Monday, April 28, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. in the Loy Henderson Conference Room of the U.S. Department of State. The State Department will host the Council’s 33rd Washington conference, „Crisis and Opportunity: Realizing the Hopes of a Hemisphere,“ from April 27-29, 2003.
The Council of the Americas is a leading business organization dedicated to promoting regional economic integration, free trade, open markets and investment, and the rule of law throughout the Western Hemisphere.
Still photographers and writers covering Secretary Powell’s address must be in place by 1:45 p.m. on Monday, April 28, but are welcome to arrive and depart throughout the rest of the conference as necessary. Video cameras are asked to adhere to the following schedule on both Monday, April 28 and Tuesday, April 29.
Pre-set time for cameras is 7:30 a.m. from the 23rd Street Entrance. Final access time for cameras is 8:15 a.m. from the 23rd Street Entrance.
Media representatives may cover this event upon presentation of one of the following: (1) a U.S. Government-issued identification card (Department of State, White House, Congress, Department of Defense, or Foreign Press Center); (2) a photo ID issued by employing media organization; or (3) a letter on official letterhead from employing organization verifying employment as a journalist, accompanied by an official photo ID (driver's license or passport).
