| Notice to the Press Office of the Spokesman Washington, DC April 28, 2003 Secretary's Open Forum Program: "American Diplomacy: Meeting the Challenges Ahead"Deputy Secretary of State Richard L. Armitage and Senator Chuck Hagel (R-NE), a senior member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee will be the featured speakers at the Secretary’s Open Forum Distinguished Speakers program scheduled Wednesday, April 30. The program, “American Diplomacy: Meeting the Challenges Ahead,” will take place from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. in the Dean Acheson Auditorium of the Department of State. The event is open for press coverage.
The program will begin with introductory remarks by Deputy Secretary Armitage, followed by the Senator Hagel’s featured presentation.
The American Diplomacy program is on-the-record and open for on-camera coverage. Media representatives are requested to use the 23rd Street entrance of the Department for access to this event and must present one of the following press credentials: (1) a U.S. government-issued identification card (Department of State, White House, Congress, Department of Defense or Foreign Press Center), (2) a media-issued photo identification card, or (3) a letter from their employer on letterhead verifying their employment as a journalist, accompanied by an official photo identification (driver’s license or passport).
