Signing of a Memorandum of Intent between the United States and the Republic of Singapore on Cooperation in Environmental MattersThe United States and the Republic of Singapore will sign a Memorandum of Intent on Cooperation in Environmental Matters on Friday, June 13, 2003, at 10:30 a.m. in the Treaty Room of the U.S. Department of State. Paula Dobriansky, Under Secretary of State for Global Affairs, and the Honorable Chan Heng Chee, the Ambassador of the Republic of Singapore to the United States, will sign on behalf of the two governments.
The Memorandum of Intent, which is associated with the recently signed U.S.-Singapore Free Trade Agreement, encourages bilateral cooperation in environmental protection. It also signifies both countries’ commitment to enhancing their capacities to protect the environment and promote sustainable development in concert with the strengthening of bilateral trade and investment relations.
Press should arrive at the 23rd Street entrance to the U.S. Department of State by 10:00 a.m. This will be a photo opportunity.
Media representatives may attend this event upon presentation of either (1) a U.S. Government-issued identification card (Department of State, White House, Congress, Department of Defense, or Foreign Press Center), (2) a photo ID issued by the employing media organization, or (3) a letter on official letterhead from their news organization verifying their employment as a journalist, accompanied by an official photo ID (drivers’ license or passport).
