Press Statement Adam Ereli, Deputy Spokesman Washington, DC September 12, 2003
Exchange of Apologies Between Croatia and Serbia and Montenegro The United States welcomes the steps taken by Croatian President Mesic and Serbian and Montenegrin President Marovic on September 10 to heal the wounds suffered during the conflicts in the former Yugoslavia. Their exchange of apologies and the concrete actions they took to resolve outstanding issues related to refugee returns, border demarcation, and visa regimes should further the normalization of their relations and add to regional stability.
We look forward to full resolution of remaining post-conflict issues between all of the states of the former Yugoslavia, and to their integration into Euro-Atlantic institutions and the establishment of a Europe whole, free and at peace.
