Rewards for Justice Program: Riduan Isamuddin (Hambali) Case

2003/930

Question: Is the Rewards for Justice Program involved in this particular case?

Answer: There was no specific reward offer for the arrest or conviction of Riduan Isamuddin under the Rewards for Justice Program. However, a reward may be paid for information leading to the arrest or conviction of any individual who has committed, attempted, or conspired to commit any act of international terrorism against U.S. citizens or property worldwide.

Question: What are the basic criteria for eligibility for a reward? Does the United States offer rewards to individuals only, or also to governments?

Answer: Persons may be eligible for a reward under the Rewards for Justice Program if they provide information that leads to the arrest or conviction of terrorists; prevents, frustrates, or favorably resolves acts of international terrorism against U.S. persons or property worldwide, including by dismantling a terrorist organization; or results in the identification or location of a key leader of a terrorist organization.

Governments or government employees who furnish such information in the performance of their official duties are not eligible for rewards under this program.

Question: Are any rewards currently being considered for any person/persons in the Hambali case?

Answer: The Rewards for Justice staff has not received any nomination for payment in this case.
