LURD Shelling of the U.S. Embassy in Monrovia

Question:   Do you have any information regarding the shelling of our Embassy in Monrovia in late July?

Answer:   We do not comment on intelligence matters. However, as far as we know, the rounds that fell at or near the Embassy compound were not intentionally targeting the Embassy.

The United States has not provided any support, materiel or other, to the rebel group, “Liberians United for Reconciliation and Democracy” (LURD).
