Powell will receive The George C. Marshall Foundation's Marshall Award and deliver remarks at a gala dinner on Wednesday, November 12, 2003 at 7:30 p.m. The awards dinner will be held at the National Building Museum, 401 F Street NW, Washington, DC.
The Marshall Award was created in 1997 in honor of the Fiftieth Anniversary of the Marshall Plan and is presented to individuals for fostering international economic development. Past recipient David Rockefeller will present the 2003 award to Secretary Powell. This event is open for press coverage. Pre-set time for cameras: 3:30 p.m.- 4:30 p.m. All press must be in place by 7:00 p.m. Media representatives may cover this event upon presentation of the following: (1) a U.S. Government-issued identification card (Department of State, White House, Congress, Department of Defense or Foreign Press Center), (2) a media-issued photo identification card, or (3) an official letter from their employer on original letterhead verifying their employment as a journalist, accompanied by an official photo identification (driver’s license or passport).
