| Notice to the Press Office of the Spokesman Washington, DC December 1, 2003 U.S.-Turkey Economic Partnership CommissionThe second U.S.-Turkey Economic Partnership Commission will be held at the Department of State on Tuesday, December 2. The Economic Partnership Commission is a bilateral forum to strengthen U.S.-Turkey economic and commercial relations.
Undersecretary of State for Economic, Business and Commercial Affairs Alan Larson and Under Secretary Ugur Ziyal of the Turkish Foreign Ministry will chair the Economic Partnership Commission meeting. Several U.S. government agencies will participate in the discussions, including the Treasury Department, the Commerce Department, the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative, the Export-Import Bank, Overseas Private Investment Corporation and the Trade and Development Agency.
Among the subjects to be discussed at the Economic Partnership Commission are Turkey’s economic reform program, investing in Turkey, trade, Caspian energy issues, and how the United States. and Turkey can cooperate to promote economic development in the Caucasus, Central Asia, Afghanistan and Iraq.
There will be a press event to review the work of the Economic Partnership Commission at 3:45 p.m. in room 6824. Pre-set time for cameras: 3:00 p.m. from the 23rd Street Entrance. Pick-up time for stills and writers: 3:15 p.m. from the 23rd Street Entrance.
Media representatives who plan to attend must present one of the following press credentials: (1) a U.S. Government-issued identification card (Department of State, White House, Congress, Department of Defense or Foreign Press Center), (2) a media-issued photo identification card, or (3) a letter from their employer on letterhead verifying their employment as a journalist, accompanied by an official photo identification (driver’s license or passport).
