Answer: On December 14, an explosive device was detonated shortly after President Musharraf’s motorcade passed over a bridge, destroying the bridge but causing no injuries to the President’s party or to others.
The United States strongly condemns this attack against Pakistan’s President. His country is one of our closest allies in the Global War on Terror. We are pleased that no one was injured.
We are prepared to assist Pakistani authorities in their investigation if they so desire.
This attack demonstrates that Pakistan faces as serious a threat from terrorism as other countries on the front lines on the War on Terror.
