Special Briefing by James Kunder Deputy Assistant Administrator for Asia and the Near East, U.S. Agency for International DevelopmentJames Kunder, USAID Deputy Assistant Administrator for Asia and the Near East, will discuss Reconstruction in Afghanistan in an on-the-record, on-camera press briefing on Wednesday, December 17, 2003 at 10:00 a.m. The briefing will be held in the Department of State Press Briefing Room (2209).
Mr. Kunder has served previously as USAID Mission Director in Afghanistan and continues to work on USAID programs there. He will be pleased to address both the specific issue of the Kabul-to-Kandahar Highway and the wide variety of USAID-supported Afghan rebuilding projects.
Members of the press wishing to attend this briefing who do not have a Department of State building pass should arrive at the 23rd street entrance by 9:45 a.m. to allow time for security procedures.
Media representatives who plan to attend must present one of the following press credentials: (1) a U.S. Government-issued identification card (Department of State, White House, Congress, Department of Defense, or Foreign Press Center), (2) a media-issued photo identification card, or (3) a letter from their employer on letterhead verifying their employment as a journalist, accompanied by an official photo identification (driver’s license or passport).
