Arrival of New U.S. Ambassador to Saudi Arabia

Question:    When does the new U.S. Ambassador to Saudi Arabia take up his post there? When did the previous Ambassador Robert Jordan depart?

Answer:   Ambassador James Oberwetter was sworn into his new post as U.S. Ambassador to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on Thursday, January 8th, and expects to arrive in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to assume his new responsibilities on or about January 15th, 2004. 

Ambassador Robert Jordan departed Saudi Arabia on October 13th, 2003.  The U.S. Embassy in Saudi Arabia is currently under the direction of Charge D'Affaires Gary Grappo.
