Libya: Comprehensive Nuclear Test Ban Treaty and the Chemical Weapons

Question:  Did Libya ratify the Comprehensive Nuclear Test Ban
Treaty and the Chemical Weapons Convention?

Answer:  The UN Legal Office formally confirmed on Monday, January
12 that Libya's instrument of accession to the Chemical Weapons Convention
was deposited on January 6.  Under the terms of the treaty, Libya will
become a member of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons
after 30 days.

The United Nations announced that Libya also ratified the
Comprehensive Nuclear Test Ban Treaty on January 6th. 

We welcome these positive developments.
