Haiti: Radio Station Attacked

Question:  What is our reaction to recent armed attacks on Haitian radio
stations by supporters of President Aristide?

Answer:   We have seen reports indicating that several radio transmitters
were deliberately attacked and damaged at a site overlooking Port-au-Prince.
We continue to be concerned about the general deterioration of security
conditions in Haiti, and we are particularly disturbed by this attack on the
ability of the country's media to operate freely and openly.
