Secretary of State Colin L. Powell To Address 2004 Annual Kennan Institute Dinner

Secretary of State Colin L. Powell will address the Kennan Institute’s Annual Benefit Dinner on Thursday, March 25, 2004 at 7:00 p.m. The dinner will be held in the 13th floor ballroom of the National Press Building, 529 14th Street, NW, Washington, DC.

The Kennan Institute, in conjunction with the Woodrow Wilson Center brings scholars and governmental specialists together to discuss political, social and economic issues affecting Russia and other successor states to the Soviet Union. The benefit dinner will commemorate Ambassador George F. Kennan’s 100th birthday, the 70th anniversary of the resumption of diplomatic relations with Moscow, and the 30th anniversary of the founding of the Kennan Institute at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars.

Pre-set time for cameras is 5:30 p.m.
All press must be in place by 6:15 p.m.

NOTE: Cameras and stills for the event will be located in the ballroom on the 13th floor. Writing press will be located in the west balcony on the 14th floor.

Media representatives may cover this event upon presentation of one of the following:
(1) a U.S. Government-issued identification card (Department of State, White House, Congress, Department of Defense or Foreign Press Center), (2) a media-issued photo identification card, or (3) an official letter from their employer on original letterhead verifying their employment as a journalist, accompanied by an official photo identification (driver’s license or passport).

DUE TO SPACE LIMITATIONS ALL MEDIA PLANNING TO ATTEND MUST CONTACT SHARON MCCARTER NO LATER THAN 10:00 A.M. ON THURSDAY, MARCH 25.
