Venezuelan Opposition Demonstration in Miami

Question:   Has the U.S. received a protest from the Venezuelan government regarding former Venezuelan Business Federation (Fedecamaras) President Carlos Fernandez and former Venezuelan Workers Confederation President Carlos Ortega’s participation in a Venezuelan opposition demonstration held in Miami on Saturday, March 27?

Answer:   The Venezuelan Foreign Minister made his concerns known to U.S. Ambassador Shapiro in a meeting this afternoon in Caracas.

Question:   What is the U.S. position on their ability to participate in such protests while in the U.S.?

Answer:   Visitors to the United States enjoy freedom of assembly.
