25th Anniversary of the Taiwan Relations Act

April 10, 2004 marks the 25th Anniversary of the enactment of the Taiwan Relations Act. The Taiwan Relations Act has made a vital contribution to ensuring peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait, and provides a strong framework to help ensure Taiwan's security. The U.S. is strongly committed to fulfilling its obligations under the Act. The traditional bonds of friendship between the people of the United States and the people of Taiwan remain are strong and vibrant. The people of Taiwan can count on the United States to pursue a steady and constructive policy toward East Asia and the Taiwan Strait area.
