Secretary of State Colin L. Powell, Under Secretary of State Paula Dobriansky and Under Secretary of State Alan Larson to Participate in Earth Day Ceremony

Secretary of State Colin L. Powell will mark Earth Day on Thursday, April 22, 2004
by delivering remarks and touring an exhibition of American-made, environmentally friendly products and technologies.  The Department of State will host the event in the Exhibit Hall of the Harry S. Truman Building.  The exhibition, "Improving Our World Together," and remarks will begin at 10:00 a.m.  Undersecretary of State for Global Affairs Paula Dobriansky and Undersecretary of State for Economic Affairs Alan Larson will also participate.
 
The Improving Our World Together Exhibit will feature environmentally friendly technologies such as an electric car, electric bicycle and solar powered ovens.  This exhibit will be the centerpiece of the Department of State’s 2004 Earth Day Program.

This event is open for press coverage.
Pre-set time for cameras is 9:15 a.m. from the 23rd Street entrance.
Final access time for all press 9:45 a.m. from the 23rd Street entrance.
 
Media representatives planning to attend must present one of the following items:  (1) a U.S. Government-issued identification card (Department of State, White House, Congress, Department of Defense or Foreign Press Center), (2) a media-issued photo identification card, or (3) a letter from their employer on letterhead verifying their employment as a journalist, accompanied by an official photo identification (driver’s license or passport).
