Assistant Secretary Bloomfield Hosts United States-Azerbaijan Political-Military TalksAssistant Secretary Bloomfield Hosts United States-Azerbaijan Political-Military Talks Assistant Secretary of State for Political-Military Affairs Lincoln P. Bloomfield, Jr., hosted the United States-Azerbaijan Political-Military talks today at the Department of State. The daylong discussions covered the Global War on Terrorism, NATO's Individual Partnership Action Plan initiative, U.S.-Azerbaijan security cooperation, and regional security issues.
The Azerbaijani delegation was headed by Deputy Foreign Minister Araz Azimov and included Azerbaijan's Ambassador to the Untied States, Hafiz Pashayev; Colonel Dashdamir Mammadov, Defense Attaché in Washington; Tahir Taghi-zade, Counselor, Embassy of Azerbaijan; Elchin Amirbekov, Counselor, Azerbaijan Mission to the United Nations; and Khazar Ibrahim, Third Secretary, Embassy of Azerbaijan.
The U.S. delegation included representatives from the State Department's Bureaus of Political-Military Affairs and European and Eurasian Affairs, the National Security Council, the Office of the Secretary of Defense, and the Defense Security Cooperation Agency.
The talks are indicative of the high level of friendship and cooperation between the United States and Azerbaijan.
