Secretary Powell To Address U.S. Chamber of Commerce's Travel and Tourism Summit

Secretary of State Colin L. Powell will address the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s Second Annual Summit “Securing the Future of Travel & Tourism” on Wednesday, May 12, 2004 at 1:30 p.m. at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, 1615 H Street NW., Washington, DC.

Secretary Powell will address what the State Department is doing to advance President Bush’s policy of Secure Borders, Open Doors. As we work with the Department of Homeland Security and other agencies to protect our country and the traveling public, we also will maintain the essential, embracing spirit of America and ensure that our country continues to be a beacon for international tourists, students, businesspeople and immigrants.

The Summit will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, 1615 H Street NW., Washington, DC, and is open for press coverage. Secretary Powell’s remarks are scheduled to begin at 1:30 p.m.

Pick-up time for cameras: 11:30 a.m. from the H Street Entrance
Pick-up time for stills and writers: 12:30 p.m. from the H Street Entrance
Final access for all press: 1:00 p.m. from the H Street Entrance

Media representatives who plan to attend must present one of the following press credentials: (1) a U.S. Government-issued identification card (Department of State, White House, Congress, Department of Defense or Foreign Press Center), (2) a media-issued photo identification card, or (3) a letter from their employer on letterhead verifying their employment as a journalist, accompanied by an official photo identification (driver’s license or passport).
