U.S. Department of Defense Civilian

Question: Can you confirm that the American citizen found dead in hotel room in Liberia was a Dyncorp contractor?

Answer: A U.S. Department of Defense civilian employee was found dead in a hotel room in Monrovia, Liberia, on May 24, 2004. The individual was an employee of the U.S. European Command and was in Monrovia as part of an assessment team reviewing the reconstruction of the Liberian security sector in support of the Liberian Comprehensive Peace Accord. An investigation into the cause of death is underway. Authorities initially suspect that the individual was the victim of a homicide by a burglar. Any questions should be directed to the U.S. European Command. The U.S. Government extends condolences to the victim’s family and friends.
