Special Press Briefing on Transition from Coalition Provisional Authority to U.S. Mission, Baghdad, Iraq

Ambassador Francis J. Ricciardone, U.S. Department of State Coordinator for Iraq Transition, and Lieutenant General (Ret.) Mick Kicklighter, U.S. Department of Defense Director of Iraq Transition, will provide for the press an update on developments in the transition from the Coalition Provisional Authority to the U.S. Mission, Baghdad, Iraq. Issues addressed will include the challenges of management, administrative/logistical matters, and the role of the U.S. Embassy after June 30.

The briefing will be held on Wednesday, June 9, at 2:00 p.m. in the State Department Press Briefing Room, and will be on the record, on camera.

Media representatives may attend this event upon presentation of one of the following press credentials: (1) a U.S. government-issued identification card (Department of State, White House, Congress, Department of Defense or Foreign Press Center), (2) a media-issued photo identification card, or (3) a letter from their employer on original letterhead verifying their employment as a journalist, accompanied by an official photo identification (driver’s license or passport).
