U.S. Secretary of State Colin L. Powell to Deliver Remarks During Release of Comprehensive Report on Africa

U.S. Secretary of State Colin L. Powell will deliver remarks before the Africa Policy Advisory Panel on Thursday, July 8, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. in the Rayburn House Office Building, Rooms B339/340. Secretary Powell’s remarks will coincide with the release of a comprehensive report on Africa Policy commissioned by Congress.

The Africa Policy Advisory Panel, mandated by Congress and led by the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS), advises Secretary Powell on U.S. policy benefiting Africa. The nonpartisan panel focuses on six key areas: the HIV/AIDS pandemic; capital markets; environmental sustainability; counterterrorism efforts; diplomacy and peace operations; and energy policy.

This event is open for press coverage beginning at 8:30 a.m.
