| Media Note Office of the Spokesman Washington, DC July 16, 2004 United States and Chile Hold First Environmental Meetings in Santiago, ChileThe United States and Chile intend to hold the first meeting of the Environment Affairs Council in Santiago, Chile on July 22, 2004. Immediately following this meeting, the U.S.-Chile Joint Commission for Environmental Cooperation, established under the U.S.-Chile Environmental Cooperation Agreement, will hold its inaugural meeting.
A joint public session will also be held in conjunction with these meetings for representatives from civil society. The public session will take place on July 21, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. in the Salon de Diputados in the former National Congress Building located at Catedral No 1158, Santiago, Chile. The United States will be represented by the Department of State and the Office of the United States Trade Representative. Chile will be represented by the Chilean Ministry of Foreign Affairs, General Directorate of International Economic Relations, the Directorate of Environment and the National Commission of the Environment.
