Elections in Mongolia

President Bush congratulated the people of Mongolia on their commitment to democracy during his July 15 meeting with President Bagabandi. He expressed his hope that the election process would be successfully completed in a free, fair, timely and transparent manner, consistent with Mongolia’s constitution.

The United States strongly supports President Bagabandi’s desire to move forward with the formation of a new government that represents the will and interests of the Mongolian people as expressed during the June 27 election. The United States is prepared to work closely with this new government as Mongolia continues its transition to democracy.
