U.S.-Mexico Binational Commission Meeting November 9

Secretary of State Colin L. Powell and Mexican Foreign Secretary Luis Ernesto Derbez will host the 21st meeting of the U.S.-Mexico Binational Commission in Mexico City on November 9, 2004. This meeting allows U.S. and Mexican cabinet and agency chiefs to discuss the critical issues affecting our two nations, and to consider future plans. The U.S.-Mexico Binational Commission is held annually, alternating between Washington, D.C. and Mexico City.

In addition to Secretary Powell, six U.S. Government cabinet secretaries and agency heads will join with their Mexican counterparts to discuss foreign policy, homeland security, border cooperation, agricultural trade, immigration, and natural resources, among other topics. Secretary Derbez will host a luncheon for all Binational Commission participants at the Mexican Foreign Ministry.

Announcements and agreements from the fourteen working groups that make up the Binational Commission will be released after the conclusion of the meeting on November 9, 2004.
