Answer: The United States and Mexico have been working for several years to resolve our dispute over the amount of water to which we are entitled under the 1944 Waters Treaty. This issue is a high priority for the Bush Administration.
Question: Does the Mexican government owe the United States under the 1944 Waters Treaty, and if so, how much?
Answer: Mexico’s current deficit of water owed to the United States totals more than 700,000 acre-feet.
