Diplomatic Security Special Agents to Receive Heroism AwardsDeputy Secretary of State Richard L. Armitage will present U.S. Department of State Heroism Awards to three Diplomatic Security special agents assigned to the Office of Mobile Security Deployment in a ceremony on Monday, December 20, 2004 at 10 a.m. in the Delegates’ Lounge. The agents, Christopher R. Belmonti of Gurnee, Ill., Raymond Kyliavas of Huntsville, Ala., and Alston A. Richardson of St. Thomas, Virgin Islands, are being honored for their heroic actions in Port-au-Prince, Haiti in February 2004.
The ceremony is open for press coverage. Press wishing to cover the ceremony must have cameras in place by 9 a.m. and will depart at the conclusion of the ceremony.
Media representatives may cover this event upon presentation of either (1) a U.S. Government-issued identification card (Department of State, White House, Congress, Department of Defense, or Foreign Press Center), (2) a photo ID issued by the employing media organization, or (3) a letter on official letterhead from their news organization verifying their employment as a journalist, accompanied by an official photo ID (drivers’ license or passport) at the 23rd Street entrance of the U.S. Department of State.
