New Passport Agency to Meet Travel Needs of American Citizens

The Department of State has selected the Denver region as the location for its newest passport agency. The Colorado Passport Agency will be located in Aurora, Colorado, and is designed to meet the emergency travel needs of American citizens throughout the Rocky Mountain region. This facility, with its convenience to the Denver International Airport, will greatly improve our ability to meet those travel needs.

The Colorado Passport Agency is expected to open on September 29, 2005, with a staff of twenty-three, including fifteen Department of State employees and eight contract support staff. The Colorado Passport Agency will be our seventeenth passport issuance facility located throughout the United States, all of which meet the travel needs of some 10 million American citizens each year. The agency will accept on-site appointments and will issue passports to eligible American citizen applicants.
