Upcoming Azerbaijan Parliamentary Elections

The United States welcomes President Aliyev’s October 25 announcement that the Government of Azerbaijan will implement new measures to bolster the integrity and transparency of the November 6 parliamentary elections, including accurate voter lists, reliable voter identification documents, and finger-inking to eliminate multiple voting.

The United States urges the Government of Azerbaijan to implement these measures as quickly as possible, and to allow for peaceful freedom of assembly. We call on all Azerbaijani political activists to take advantage of these emerging democratic opportunities in pursuit of an election that meets international standards.
