Assistant Secretary of State for International Organization Affairs Kristen Silverberg’s briefing on U.S. priorities to strengthen the United Nations has been rescheduled for Tuesday, December 20, 2005, at 11:00 a.m. in the State Department Press Briefing Room. This briefing is ON-THE-RECORD and ON-CAMERA.
Issues such as management reform, establishing a Human Rights Council, and establishing a Peacebuilding Commission remain at the forefront of U.S. objectives. Assistant Secretary Silverberg will brief on these issues as well as on the U.S. strategy for UN reform.
Media representatives who plan to attend this briefing but do not have a State Department building pass must enter through the 23rd Street entrance of the State Department building by 10:45 a.m.
Attendees must present one of the following press credentials: (1) a U.S. Government-issued identification card (Department of State, White House, Congress, Department of Defense or Foreign Press Center), (2) a media-issued photo identification card, or (3) a letter from their employer on letterhead verifying their employment as a journalist, accompanied by an official photo identification (driver’s license or passport).
