Cyprus: Visit of U.K. Foreign Minister Jack Straw

Question:   U.K. Foreign Secretary Jack Straw will be visiting Greece, Turkey, and Cyprus this week in a bid to restart the stalled Cypriot peace process. His plan has been endorsed by the UN. What is the U.S. reaction to FM Straw's mission/proposal?

Answer: The United States remains hopeful that a just and lasting Cyprus settlement can be found and believes the proper course is a solution that is based on the Annan plan. We certainly welcome the United Kingdom’s support for that process as well.

The United Kingdom Government is the appropriate source for information on Foreign Secretary Straw’s travel and any proposal he may plan to present.
