Question Taken at the January 24 Daily Press Briefing

Kuwaiti Parliament Removes Sheik Saad Al Abdullah Al Sabah

Question:   What is our reaction to the removal of Sheik Saad Al Abdullah Al Sabah as emir by the Kuwaiti Parliament?

Answer:   Kuwait is a good friend of the United States and we wish our friends well in dealing with their current leadership transition. It is of course a domestic matter so we would refer you to the Kuwaitis for any details on this matter. The United States and Kuwait have long shared a strong friendship and cooperation on a range of regional and international issues, and we are confident they will continue.
