Repression of Demonstrators in Belarus

The United States deplores today’s use of force by Belarusian authorities against peaceful demonstrators in Minsk. We express our deep concern for the individuals who were injured and detained. We call on Belarusian authorities to refrain from further use of force and arrests against those exercising their legitimate rights to assembly and expression.

We urge authorities to immediately release all those being held for expressing their political views.
