Palestinian Authority: Return of $50 Million in U.S. Direct Assistance (Taken Question)

Question: Has the Palestinian Authority returned the $50 million dollars is direct U.S. assistance provided in 2005? If not, when are we expecting to receive it?

Answer
: The Secretary directed USAID to request the money be returned to the U.S. Government. The Palestinian Authority has advised us they will comply with this request and return the funds. At present $30 million has been returned and we will continue to work closely with them to ensure the return of the remainder.
