14th Session of the UN Commission on Sustainable Development May 1-12, 2006

Under Secretary of State for Democracy and Global Affairs Paula Dobriansky is traveling to New York May 9 – 12. She will lead the U.S. Delegation to the Ministerial Segment of the 14th Session of the U.N. Commission on Sustainable Development. Assistant Secretary for the Bureau of Oceans and International Environmental and Scientific Affairs Claudia A. McMurray will also participate during the High Level Segment.

The meetings will focus on the centrality of access to clean energy technologies to economic growth, social development, and environmental stewardship. Both Under Secretary Dobriansky and Assistant Secretary McMurray will participate in meetings and events with governments, civil society and private sector representatives designed to increase access to clean, healthy, and modern energy services.
