Repression of Cuban Dissidents

The U.S. condemns the ongoing repression of Cuban dissidents by Fidel Castro’s regime. The Cuban Government recently directed mobs to intimidate and harass peaceful dissidents including Hilda Molina, Felix Bonne, and members of the Sigler Amaya family. On April 25, Martha Beatriz Roque was attacked in her home and prevented from attending a U.S.-sponsored event.

As we mark some of the grim milestones of the Cuban regime, including the third anniversary of the "Black Spring" crackdown, and the 12th year in jail for political prisoner Francisco Chaviano, the United States reiterates its support for these brave individuals and all those in Cuba who are being deprived of the freedom they desire and deserve.
