Department of State's High 2006 Ranking as Ideal Employer Among Minority Students

The Department of State has significantly increased its rank as an ideal employer among minority undergraduate students, achieving 4th place recognition, listed right under Google, Disney and Microsoft. Jumping from 36th place a year earlier as an ideal employer in an annual poll of minority undergraduates reported by Philadelphia-based Universum Communications, the Department surpasses the rankings of other Federal agencies. Universum announced its 2006 survey results that are based on 10,000 minority undergraduates in the Class of 2006.

It is worth noting that out of 100 employers, the Department of State was ranked 4th as the ideal employer for all minority undergraduates and 12th as the ideal employer for all minority MBAs and undergraduates. These rankings are the result of an aggressive recruitment effort on the part of the Department of State to ensure that it has a diverse workforce.
