2006 World Food Prize Winners To Be Announced

Under Secretary Josette Sheeran Shiner will host the 2006 World Food Prize Laureate Announcement in the State Department’s Benjamin Franklin Room on Thursday, June 15 at 12:00. Nobel Laureate Norman Borlaug, also known as "Father of the Green Revolution" and founder of the World Food Prize, will join Under Secretary Sheeran Shiner and others on stage to announce and recognize this year’s winners. After the ceremony, representatives from the World Food Prize, U.S. Department of State, U.S. Department of Agriculture, and the winning nominees’ countries will be on hand for individual press interviews.

This event is on-the-record, and open to all press.

Pre-set time for cameras: 10:45 am at the 23rd Street entrance.

Final access time for all press: 11:40 am at the 23rd Street entrance.

Media representatives may attend this event upon presentation of one of the following: (1) a U.S. government-issued identification card (State Department, White House, Congress, Defense Department, Foreign Press Center), (2) a media-issued photo identity card, or (3) a letter from their employer on letterhead verifying their employment as a journalist, accompanied by an official photo identification (driver’s license or passport).
