The U.S.-Russia Counterterrorism Working Group (CTWG) will meet September 14, 2006 at the State Department. The plenary meeting will be hosted by the Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs, R. Nicholas Burns.
Former President Clinton and Russian President Putin created the CTWG six years ago. This will be the group’s fifteenth meeting. The CTWG has successfully cooperated on a broad range of counterterrorism issues in the past, including bioterrorism and exchange of terrorism threat information.
Under Secretary Burns and Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Kislyak, the Russian co-chair will hold a press conference in the Treaty Room at 4:00 p.m. to report on the progress of the CTWG.
