Yemen’s Presidential and Local Elections

We congratulate the people of Yemen for conducting open, contested elections that were free of widespread violence. Despite some reports of irregularities on both sides, this constitutes a significant development in Yemen’s democratization process. The U.S. looks forward to continuing our close cooperation with the government of Yemen.
