Japan: F-22 Sales (Taken Question)Question: What is the State Department’s reaction to the passage of a bill by the House Appropriations Committee banning the exportation of the F-22 to any foreign government? Does this make it more difficult for Japan to obtain the F-22? How is State Department involved with this?
Answer: U.S. law prohibits the U.S. from selling the F-22. The United States is committed to working with Japan as Japan chooses its future fighter aircraft, to find the appropriate capabilities for a strong and credible alliance.
