Special Briefing on U.S. Assistance to Earthquake and Hurricane Victims In the Western Hemisphere Region

Mr. Ky Luu, Director, Office of Foreign Disaster Assistance, US Agency for International Development will brief the press today, Tuesday, August 21, on the U.S. humanitarian preparations for and response to the Western Hemisphere’s Hurricane Dean and the earthquake in Peru. Mr. Luu will be joined at the podium by State Department officials from the Consular and Western Hemisphere Affairs Bureaus. The special briefing will be On the Record, ON CAMERA, and will begin at 2:30 p.m. in the Press Briefing Room.

Media representatives may attend this briefing upon presentation of the following: (1) a U.S. Government-issued media identification card (Department of State, White House, Congress, Department of Defense, or Foreign Press Center), (2) a media-issued photo identification card, or (3) a letter from their employer on letterhead verifying their employment as a journalist, accompanied by an official photo identification (driver’s license or passport).
